Summary

Aquinas College, Ashmore is seeking an inspiring Middle Leader (Science) to lead curriculum, drive teaching excellence, foster student achievement, and support a dynamic and engaging Science department.

 

  • Location: Aquinas College - Ashmore (S)
  • Start date: Commencing January 2027 (Term 4, 2026 commencement would be welcomed)
  • Work hours: 30.00 hours per week 
  • Salary: $86,601 - $124,725 per annum + Middle Leader Allowance - Tier 3 + 12.75% Super

This is a continuing teaching appointment, with an initial appointment into the Middle Leader position including Middle Leader Allowance, concluding at the end of the current triennium (December 2026). Two subsequent three-year appointments with the Middle Leader Allowance can be offered subject to satisfactory performance in the position and the ongoing existence of the position. 

About the opportunity

Aquinas College, Ashmore invites applications from passionate and capable educators for the position of Tier 3 Middle Leader - Science, commencing January 2027. A Term 4, 2026 commencement would be welcomed for applicants who are available for an earlier start. The ability to teach Chemistry is desirable, but not essential. 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and energetic teacher to lead a committed team of educators in delivering a high-quality Science program that inspires curiosity, academic excellence and a love of learning. As the Science Middle Leader, you will work collaboratively with College leadership and teaching staff to strengthen teaching practice, support curriculum development, monitor student achievement, and promote innovative and engaging learning experiences across Years 7-12.

 

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership and support to the Science faculty.
  • Lead curriculum planning, implementation, and review.
  • Foster excellence in teaching, learning and assessment practices.
  • Support staff professional growth and collaborative practice.
  • Utilise student data to inform continuous improvement and enhanced learning outcomes.
  • Promote high expectations and a culture of academic excellence.

  • Driving the assessment and moderation process when developing new programs.  
  • Leading and innovating within a specified curriculum area.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirement:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
