About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership in pastoral care for a designated group of students, ensuring their wellbeing aligns with the school’s mission and values
- Supervising teachers involved in student pastoral care, offering guidance and support for effective practices
- Monitoring students' holistic development, including their academic performance, social interactions, spiritual growth, and physical health, and addressing concerns through appropriate measures
- Coordinating staff focused on student welfare, fostering teamwork and aligning activities with the school’s ethos
- Managing student behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour management policies, promoting a safe and respectful environment
- Organising and overseeing pastoral activities such as camps, retreats, and other events that enrich the informal curriculum, collaborating with other parties as needed
- Staying updated on best practices in student care and welfare through ongoing professional development and sharing insights to enhance staff learning
- Handling financial and material resources within your area of responsibility, including budget planning and managing allocated funds effectively.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Coordinated work programs within a school
- Helped drive the assessment and moderation process
- Knowledge of behaviour management practices to promote a safe and respectful learning environment
- Experience in organising and overseeing pastoral activities such as camps, retreats, or enrichment events
- Stakeholder engagement fostering collaboration and transparency
- Developing and maintaining a financial budget.
- Responsible Thinking Process (RTP) knowledge and/or experience desirable.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
