About our school
St Joseph's School, Bardon is a Catholic co-educational primary school, with an enrolment of over 360 students. Founded in 1938 by the Franciscan Sisters, our school permeates the values of Humility, Care, Respect as our motto is lived authentically. As part of the Jubilee Parish, we are located only 8 kms from the CBD in the leafy suburb of Bardon.

Summary
Help maintain and care for the school's grounds, including gardens, lawns, and sporting ovals, creating a vibrant environment for all.

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Removal of rubbish and debris from garden and grounds areas including the emptying of bins and disposing of waste material to maintain a clean, tidy, and litter-free school building and grounds environment
- Routinely maintaining and/or repairing reticulation and irrigation systems, under supervision
- Safely operate and maintain small machinery and plant, as required, considering the risk to self and others
- Assisting in the maintenance of playing surfaces, including setting up of greens, top dressing, fertilising under supervision, seeding, turfing, coring, and sprigging
- Assisting in the preparation of ovals for sporting events and carnivals.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- A safety mindset being aware of risks, following safety protocols, using PPE, and ensuring the safety of yourself and others while maintaining the grounds and equipment
- Knowledge of maintaining and repairing reticulation and irrigation systems, with supervision
- Skilled in safely operating and maintaining small machinery
- Experience assisting in the upkeep of playing surfaces, including fertilising, seeding, and turfing under supervision
- Capability to assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals
- Relevant tertiary qualifications at Certificate III level, or completion of an apprenticeship
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
