About our school 
Good Samaritan Catholic College, located in Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast, is a Prep to Year 12 institution that opened in 2019. The College has steadily grown and now accommodates approximately 1300 students. The first cohort of seniors graduated in 2024.

About the opportunity


In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Liaise with teaching staff on their needs for classroom practical work while maintaining an efficient system for use and allocations of materials and equipment
  • Assist science staff with instructing students on use/care of equipment as well as demonstrating laboratory techniques
  • Advise and assist teaching staff in safety matters related to the science laboratory
  • Assist with the development of operational procedures as well as WH&S policy within the science department
  • Prepare solutions, stains and media for use in the laboratory
  • Maintain a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and carry out and/or coordinate labelling, storage, stocktaking and ordering of equipment and chemicals
  • Maintain and clean laboratory apparatus/equipment and learning spaces
  • Collect or coordinate the care of flora and fauna within the science department, in accordance with current regulations
  • Collect off campus scientific materials and field samples, utilising the school vehicle
  • Support teaching staff on science excursions/field work
  • Coordinate purchasing and budgeting in conjunction with the Learning Leader for Science

 
The successful candidate will:

  • Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a large team
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage
  • Be competent in the use of technology and programs (ie. email, Excel, Word). Previous experience with Chemwatch and RiskAssess websites would be an advantage

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Experience assessing and monitoring student progress to identify areas for targeted intervention
  • Exposure to creating diverse teaching methods and assessments to accommodate various learning styles
  • Skilled in developing strategies to enhance student learning outcomes based on individual needs
  • Experience in collaborating with specialists to address student needs
  • Knowledge about the specific needs for First Nations and international students including cultural considerations 
  • Certificate III in Education Support
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
