Contribute to fostering a deeper, respectful understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and spiritualities within the school.

About the opportunity
Typical duties performed include, but not limited to:
- Monitor attendance and engagement of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, liaising with Pastoral Leaders, CLT, counsellors and parents as required.
- Develop and maintain connections with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students through regular meetings and gatherings, such as Mob Pastoral, Yarning Circles, and small group and individual check-ins.
- Provide individualised advocacy and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to improve educational outcomes.
- Schedule and plan excursions, incursions and camps in consultation with CLT and external stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation of risk assessments and other documentation, corresponding with students, parents, speakers/guests etc, organise activities, transport, catering, supervising staff as required.
- Prepare and submit College QATSIF Scholarship submission on behalf of eligible students, including collection of student information and parent permission, and obtaining the endorsement of a Traditional Custodian.
- Source input from students, staff and community to assist with the development and implementation of a College Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Prepare relevant resources in line with culturally significant events and occasions, including assemblies for Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, displays in shared areas such as the library, and activities designed to promote whole school participation.
- Establish contact with appropriate stakeholders and organisations within BCE and the wider community to enhance and enrich the cultural knowledge and experiences of the College's Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
- Liaise with College staff to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into curriculum and College life, in order to foster a deeper respect, appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Planning and delivering cultural programs, including using technology and learning support activities
- Ability to provide tailored support to improve learning outcomes for students with diverse cultural needs
- Monitoring and assessing the progress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Collaboration skills to work with teachers and staff
- Ability to work with many different stakeholders to create a supportive and safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island descent
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
- Current/valid Queensland Driver's Licence, if required.
