Summary

We're seeking a passionate and skilled Music Specialist to support student learning through expert tutoring in guitar (acoustic, electric and bass). This role involves leading small group and ensemble sessions, fostering musical growth, and inspiring students to develop their performance skills in a supportive and creative environment.

 

  • Location: St Eugene College, Burpengary
  • Start date: January 2026 
  • Work hours: Anticipated to be 10 hours per week, days flexible
  • Salary: $55/hour + super 
  • Status: Term time only for the 2026 school year

About the opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Specialist (Guitar) to join our school community commencing January 2026. This role is open to candidates with a strong background in guitar. 

 

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging and effective learning programs to enhance students’ skills and understanding of the guitar (acoustic, electric, and bass).
  • Monitoring the progress of students including students with learning disabilities 
  • Improving student learning outcomes by providing support and advice on supporting students with diverse learning needs 
  • Collaborating with school specialists in organising and assisting with individual or group sessions 
  • Supervising small groups and individual students in their chosen instrument 
  • Documenting observation notes and assisting in the collation and preparation of classroom materials.  

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: 

  • Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments 
  • Ability to read and write music notation 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Knowledge of music theory and history 
  • Experience monitoring student progress 
  • Patience and adaptability to be able to work with students of varying skill levels and learning styles 
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card or QCT prior to commencement.
