The Customer Solutions team leads BCE's IT project portfolio, acting as the bridge between IT capabilities and customer needs. Summary

Drive transformation in payroll operations through technology and process excellence. We’re seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Functional Consultant to play a pivotal role in supporting and optimising our Ascender Pay (aPay) payroll platform and its integration with HR systems including SAP SuccessFactors, Strato, and WorkforceX. This role is critical to ensuring payroll accuracy, system reliability, and continuous improvement across our enterprise platforms.

 

As a senior member of the Business Technology Services team, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders across business units to deliver seamless payroll operations, drive system enhancements, and lead change initiatives.

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Deliver expert support across aPay modules including customisations, WSS and Extend, integrations, and reporting.
  • Manage and triage user requests via the Service Desk, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where needed.
  • Monitor system performance and data integrity, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Collaborate with business units and subject matter experts to drive initiatives and achieve outcomes.
  • Act as the liaison between business users and external support teams, guiding system updates and their business impact.
  • Lead payroll system upgrades, including performance tuning, capacity planning, data integration, testing, and patch management.
  • Engage with vendors for support and enhancement activities.
  • Lead change management strategies and implementation plans for new initiatives and system enhancements.

About you

To be successful in this position you will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a passion for enabling operational excellence through payroll technology, bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Proven experience with aPay (Ascender) or other payroll systems and related business processes.
  • Strong understanding of payroll operations and best practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills, with experience in report development.
  • Expertise in business analysis, product and release management, change and support management.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, business, IT, information systems or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to support end users through process and technology transformation.
  • Familiarity with project and change management methodologies in the context of system support and optimisation.
