About our school 
St Patrick's is a Parish Co-educational Secondary College with an enrolment of over 510 students in Gympie. Gympie is located approximately 40 minutes from the Sunshine Coast. The College provides a values-based education that fosters and applauds students' talents and potential. Summary

Use your administrative expertise to deliver strategic advice and high-level administrative support, working closely with the leadership team and stakeholders to achieve operational goals across the school.

About the opportunity

The Work Placement Officer works with the local community and employers in:
  
•    Establishing networks of employment related information 
•    Enlisting employers for work placement /school based traineeships 
•    Attending school based traineeship sign-ups 
•    Regular contact with employers and training organisations and who have school based trainees 
•    Coordinating work placement/experience across the school 
•    Visiting new workplaces to evaluate WHS 
•    Liaising with Wide Bay TAFE re: TAFE School Links courses 
•    Attending Training Reference Group and VET meetings once a term 
•    Liaising with SAT’s coordinators from other schools  
•    Liaising with local AAC and Group Training Organisations 

With students:
•    Organizing work placement/experience 
•    Matching students to available school based traineeships/apprenticeships 
•    Assisting with career planning 
•    Assisting students to find part time employment 
•    Resume writing and job applications 
•    Interview techniques 
•    Employment seeking strategies 
•    Assisting with organisation of  training sessions for school based trainees 
•    Assisting students from Learning Support with placements 


 

General: 
•    Maintaining record system of placements and traineeships 
•    Registration of new businesses on Pathways 
•    Evaluation of programs 
•    Liaising with Deputy Principal, Guidance Counsellor, Learning Support Coordinator and other members of the Pastoral Support staff as appropriate 
  

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: 

  • Overseeing and improving systems and administrative resources, having recommended and implemented process enhancements 
  • Coordinated daily administrative tasks, managed workloads and fostered teamwork 
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and procedures related to school operations 
  • Managing procurement activities and financial administration 
  • Marketing and promoting administrative services, ensuring programs align with school needs and current trends 
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic. 

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
