About our school
St Mary’s Primary School is situated in the historic Queensland provincial city of Ipswich, 45 km from Brisbane CBD. Our beautiful, historical architecture of sandstone buildings are a visual reminder that quality Catholic Education has been delivered on our site for over 150 years We are a co-educational school with a current enrolment of 575 students from Prep through to Year 6. The dedicated teaching and support staff endeavour to provide high quality, inclusive education by providing engaging learning activities that support not only students' academic advancement but also their personal growth based upon a Catholic Christian tradition. About the opportunity
In this role you will be responsible for:

Play a key role in fostering a safe and supportive, school environment where staff and students can thrive.

Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS systems, ensuring compliance with BCE policies and Queensland legislation.

Work collaboratively with school leadership to identify risks, develop practical solutions, and promote a proactive safety culture.

Provide guidance, training, and support to staff to strengthen safety awareness and emergency preparedness across the school community.

Contribute to a mission‑driven organisation committed to excellence in education, wellbeing, and community engagement.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

You bring a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to safety and genuinely care about creating environments where children and staff feel protected and supported.

You hold relevant WHS qualifications and have a solid understanding of Queensland safety legislation, risk management processes, and incident response.

You communicate clearly and confidently, building trust with staff, contractors, and leadership while guiding them through safe work practices.

You’re organised, detail‑driven, and able to balance compliance requirements with the practical realities of a busy school environment.
