About the opportunity

This is a continuing teaching appointment, with an initial appointment into the Middle Leader position including Middle Leader Allowance, concluding at the end of the current triennium (December 2029). Two subsequent three-year appointments with the Middle Leader Allowance can be offered subject to satisfactory performance in the position and the ongoing existence of the position. 

The Pastoral Leader - Head of Student Wellbeing (7-12) will be responsible for:

• Designing and supporting processes to enhance the wellbeing of students
• Working collaboratively with Senior Leadership, Middle Leaders, Support Teachers, Counsellors, in order to assist students to access the learning and teaching program and improve student educational outcomes.
• Work collaboratively, communicate regularly and support all members of the pastoral team concerning student progress.
• Provide additional targeted support to students with identified needs e.g. supporting students with organisational, behavioural, social/emotional difficulties.
• Working collaboratively with Leadership to build teacher capacity to create learning focused environments that provide safety, predictability, routine and that support student wellbeing and behaviour for learning.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

• A minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
• Proven ability to provide leadership in pastoral care, ensuring the well-being of students aligns with the school’s ethos and values.
• Strong capability to monitor students' holistic development, addressing academic, social, spiritual, and physical concerns as necessary.
• Knowledge of behaviour management practices to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
• Experience in organizing and overseeing pastoral activities such as camps, retreats, or enrichment events, collaborating effectively with relevant personnel.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, implementing best practices in student care and sharing insights with staff.
• Strong financial management skills, including budget planning and effective handling of material resources within your area of responsibility.
