Saint Mary's Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12 College with an enrolment of over 280 students, offering families a co-educational pathway to life-long learning. The College has been proudly serving the families of the South Burnett region since 1990, following the amalgamation of the St Mary's Parish Primary and Secondary Schools. This is a continuing full-time teaching appointment, which includes an initial fixed-term appointment to the position of Assistant Principal (Learning & Teaching). The fixed-term component of the role will conclude at the end of the current triennium in December 2026. Following a successful performance review, and subject to the ongoing existence of the position, the appointment may be extended for a further five years.

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) invites applications for this School Senior Leadership position with the capability to support the Principal in:

  • building the religious life of the school and a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community;
  • growing the engagement, progress, achievement and wellbeing of each student in the school; and
  • building a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance.

 

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Working as part of a cohesive leadership team to inspire a shared outlook across the school’s community by developing and aligning the vision, mission and goals of the school with the broader context of BCE’s strategic purpose and Catholic Identity.
  • Prioiritising sustainable management and governance of school resources to meet educational and operational needs, lead staff to understand their role in compliance, sustainable and transparent management.  
  • Collaborating in the planning, directing and regularly evaluating curriculum development, teaching programs, and co-curricular activities to focus on fostering effective, progressive and fit-for-purpose teaching practices.
  • Collecting and evaluating relevant school and community information in relation to the broader context of BCE’s strategic purpose and Catholic identity. 
  • Modelling and embedding a contemporary Catholic worldview context into the school’s approach to learning and teaching.
  • Facilitating opportunities and clarify expectations through robust feedback on performance and supporting professional learning communities within, across and beyond the school.
  • Overseeing the stewardship of all finances and resources identifying savings and efficiencies where possible and delivering accountable reporting and consultative processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with work health and safety legislation.
  • Embedding a culture that embraces diversity and inclusiveness. 

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
  • For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).
