Assistant Principal - Curriculum, Learning & Administration is a member of the College Leadership Team with responsibility for leading learning, curriculum and administration - Years 10 to 12, ensuring alignment to the College's Vision, Mission, and Values. The position plays a pivotal role in building capacity among staff, supporting students, and partnering with families to ensure every student can thrive.
The Assistant Principal - Curriculum, Learning and Administration
In this position you will be responsible for:
• Providing strategic leadership in Year 10-12 curriculum, subject offerings & pathways using data (e.g. TLD, IA results & External Exam results & trends) to provide an informed, proactive and evidence-based response.
• In collaboration with Middle Leaders, and College Leadership Team annually review College Yr 10-12 curriculum offerings to ensure rigor, relevance, and alignment with student learning engagement data
• Collaborating in the planning, directing and regularly evaluating curriculum development, teaching programs, and co-curricular activities to focus on fostering effective, progressive and fit-for-purpose teaching practices in Year 10-12.
• Facilitating opportunities and clarify expectations through robust feedback on performance and supporting professional learning communities within, across and beyond the school.
• contribute to the strategic vision and the learning culture of St Michael's College for the provision of education for students
• Implement evidence-based strategies to lead students and staff in goal setting and student voice practices to improve teaching responses that support student learning progress
• Provide leadership and line management for Curriculum Heads of Departments, and, indirectly, classroom teachers, Yrs 10 - 12
• Lead the development of the annual College timetable for students and staff, inclusive of annual review of structure and timetable offerings
• Oversee a collaborative approach to the offering of Pathways programs, including line management of Head of Future Pathways and VET
• Lead Curriculum Heads of Departments in compliance with QCAA and other statutory body requirements
• Collaboratively lead SET-Planning processes and subject selection processes within the College, inclusive of hosting subject information evenings
• Oversee quality assurance in the use of data and enterprise learning systems
• Contribute to the strategic vision and the learning culture of St Michael's College for the provision of education for students
• Collect, analyse and report on data trends (learning outcomes, and student engagement) to inform decision-making
• Organise exam schedules, NAPLAN schedule, parent/student/teacher interviews
• Organise and oversee reporting processes (TLD report set-up, verification, review, publication, etc.)
• In collaboration with AP middle years, oversee academic awards recognition processes (Scientia Awards, Evening of Excellence, etc).
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
- Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
- For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).
