Summary
Mt Maria College, Mitchelton is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Program Leader (Sport) to lead and enhance the College's vibrant sporting program within a Catholic co-educational secondary school community.
The successful applicant will provide strong leadership across interhouse carnivals, SECA sport, representative pathways and co-curricular sporting opportunities, fostering student participation, teamwork, excellence and school spirit. Working collaboratively with staff, students, families and external sporting bodies, the Program Leader (Sport) will play a key role in promoting a positive sporting culture that supports the holistic development of students and reflects the College's values of Aspire, Respect and Engage.
This is a continuing teaching appointment, with an initial appointment into the Middle Leader position including Middle Leader Allowance, concluding at the end of the current triennium (December 2026). Two subsequent three-year appointments with the Middle Leader Allowance can be offered subject to satisfactory performance in the position and the ongoing existence of the position.

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Lead the designated program in the school.
- Provide professional development and monitor improvement of teachers’ professional practice in areas of identified need in conjunction with Senior Leadership.
- Induct new teachers within the program (or supervise the induction where it is undertaken by another experienced teacher).
- Coordinate the work of staff engaged in delivering the designated program in the light of the values and ethos of the school.
- Regularly communicate with stakeholders (students, parents, school staff and other personnel) to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
- Organise program activities including resources, transport, operations, staff, etc.
- Keep abreast of best practice in the program area through on-going professional reading and research and providing for the professional learning of staff in line with these developments.
- Coordinate the program's evaluation and review.
- Manage the performance of staff through on-going professional discourse, collegial support, observation of practice, facilitation of reflective responses to issues, and formal and informal goal setting and appraisal.
- Contribute to the leadership of the school through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings, and through close collaboration with other Middle Leaders, teaching staff and appropriate Senior Leadership personnel to review school program.
- Manage financial and material resources within the area of responsibility including the formulation of budgets and the expenditure of allocated funds.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- An experience teacher with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience.
- Proven ability to lead school programs and ensure smooth operations while fostering professional development for staff.
- Experience in managing program logistics, including resources, transport, and operational needs.
- Familiarity with best practices in education, supported by ongoing research and learning.
- Competence in evaluating programs and managing staff performance through professional discourse and goal setting.
- Strong leadership skills, financial management proficiency, and effective stakeholder engagement.

- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers
