About the opportunity
The role of the Sports Leader is to support the mission of the College through leadership of sport offered to students in the College. This involves interacting with students, staff and parents in an appropriate manner as well as developing and implementing effective processes and practices in keeping with the values and ethos of the College and designed to accomplish the desired outcomes of College Sport. This role will involve interacting with personnel and organisations outside the College community and developing partnerships that enhance results for students.
In this position you will be responsible for:
• Plan, prepare and deliver effective sports programs and initiative for students across the College
• Advocating for and promoting sport, including celebrating achievements and successes within and outside the College community
• Lead the designated sport programs across the College by championing and leading the Colleges direction and strategic prioirtites for sports at the College
• Supervise Sports Assistants, Assistant Coaches and Sports Coaches and teachers engaged in sports throughout the College including Induction of new teachers/coaches within the program
• Deliver and advise on teaching methods, materials, and assessments to cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities and provide alternative ways for small groups or individual students to access and demonstrate their understanding of the content
• Develop and implement processes and practices for the coordination of College sporting carnivals and associated representative teams that emerge from carnivals
• Organising program activities including budgeting, financial and material resources, transport, operations and staff etc
• Maintain accurate attendance records and report on student absenteeism, providing insight and feedback to stakeholders
• Demonstrate open communication and collaboration with key stakeholders (student, parents, College staff and other personnel) including updates on student progress and performance
• Coach on rules, tactics and expectations within the sport programs
• Encourage camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst players and build a culture of pride and profile within the wider College community
• Assess and monitor the progress of students and identify learning areas to provide strategies for students requiring additional learning scaffolding, including students with learning disabilities
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Experience in planning, delivering and implimenting sports programs for students that are aligned with the College's strateigc direction
- Stakeholder engagement - Abiltiy to collaborat with a variety of stakeholders
- Abiltiy to develop strategies for individual students within sports programs
- Coaching qualifications (degree with experience) and/or appropriate sporting discipline specific experience
- Support the vision and College's mission and its underlying Teresian and Marist values and ethos
- Leadership capacity - a broad vision of student welfare that extends beyond behaviour management, initiative, perseverance, acceptance of responsibility, effective organisational skills, ability to communicate appropriately and ability to foster cooperation and collegiality
- Empathy for young people and an ability to relate positively with them in the context of the Sports program within the College
- Professional activity through membership of professional associations and on-going professional development appropriate to the role
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
