About the opportunity
The role of the Sports Leader is to support the mission of the College through leadership of sport offered to students in the College. This involves interacting with students, staff and parents in an appropriate manner as well as developing and implementing effective processes and practices in keeping with the values and ethos of the College and designed to accomplish the desired outcomes of College Sport. This role will involve interacting with personnel and organisations outside the College community and developing partnerships that enhance results for students.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Gathering, analysing and interpreting data to monitor the progress of students, and identify learning areas or subjects to provide evidence-based intervention strategies for students requiring additional learning scaffolding, including students with learning disabilities
- Developing teaching methods, materials, and assessments to cater to the diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom
- Providing advice and producing plans focussing on the teaching of students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborating with school specialists, to provide advice, support and resources to develop learning interventions and coordinate services
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to advise and assist with intervention groups to coordinate services and to develop appropriate strategies for individual students
- Leading the designated Sport program and initiatives in the College
- Supervising teachers /coaches engaged in Sport throughout the College
- Induction of new teachers/coaches within the program (or supervision of induction where it is undertaken by another experienced teacher).
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Applying data analysis to monitor student progress and identify areas for targeted intervention
- Being the driver for the development of teaching methods and assessments to address diverse learning needs
- Being able to provide strategic advice and create action plans for teaching students with varied learning needs
- Previous collaboration with specialists to develop and coordinate effective learning interventions
- Stakeholder engagement where you have collaborated with a variety of stakeholders to develop strategies for individual students
- A Tertiary Qualification Degree / Associate Diploma level or equivalent in Education Support
- A clear vision of and support for the College's mission and its underlying Teresian and Marist values and ethos
- Leadership capacity - a broad vision of student welfare that extends beyond behaviour management, initiative, perseverance, acceptance of responsibility, effective organisational skills, ability to communicate appropriately and ability to foster cooperation and collegiality
- Empathy for young people and an ability to relate positively with them in the context of the Sports program within the College
- Professional activity through membership of professional associations and on-going professional development appropriate to the role
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
