About our school 
Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80kms west of Brisbane. The College opened in January 2021 and continues to grow enrolling a new cohort of students each year. Its Catholic identity is enriched through a Franciscan spirituality and a strong focus on ‘integral ecology’.

About the opportunity

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) invites applications for this School Senior Leadership position with the capability to support the Principal in:

  • building the religious life of the school and a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community;
  • growing the engagement, progress, achievement and wellbeing of each student in the school; and
  • building a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance.

 

In this position, your accountabilities will include but not limited to:

    • Review and evaluate internal and external information to inform decision making processes that align with strategic and annual plans.   
    • Develop relationships that are strategically important and that also promote and market the school in the community.  
    • Manage allocated resources to support strategic and operational objectives.   
    • Lead and manage assigned staff, finances, and resources in alignment with legislative requirements, Archdiocesan and BCE policy and procedures. 

 

Please note: This is a substantive 5 year appointment as Assistant Principal (with a further 5 years offer subject to a positive review), with an underlying continuing teaching status. 

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
  • For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).

  • Extensive experience in educational leadership, including a strong track record of implementing innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and improving student outcomes in accordance with AITSL standards.
