Summary

St Peter Claver College is seeking a passionate and skilled Guitar and Percussion Tutor to provide high-quality instrumental tuition to our students as a contractor.

  • Location: St Peter Claver College, Riverview
  • Start date: Commencing Term 4 - commencing week of 7 October 2025 (Negotiable)
  • Work Hours: Private tuition and one ensemble rehearsal (negotiable)
  • Salary: $86.00/hour (MTAQ rates)
  • Status: will be employed as a contractor and paid an hourly rate

About the opportunity

This role includes approximately 1.5 days of lessons per week and may be split between guitar and percussion if needed. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to conduct an ensemble and participate in school concerts and events.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Tuition of guitar and percussion students
  • Conducting Claver Percussion Ensemble or a Guitar ensemble as negotiated
  • Attendance at selected concerts and school events 
  • Working closely and collobrating with the music teachers and other team members 

 

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: 

    • Relevant qualifications and previous experience tutoring and/or teaching music
    • Ensemble conducting experience 
    • Strong instrumental knowledge in guitar and/or percussion
    • Experience teaching and conducting ensembles
    • A collaborative spirit and ability to work as part of a team
    • A commitment to supporting student growth through music

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
