About the opportunity

The Senior Finance Lead will provide support and assistance to the College Business Manager in meeting a set of broad responsibilities in relation to the business administration and financial operations of the College. An employee in this position will be required to demonstrate initiative and operate with an appropriate level of autonomy with expertise and focus on established accounting practices and financial management strategies.

In consultation with the Business Manager, this role will also provide technical support to College staff to ensure appropriate financial processes, policies and internal control mechanisms are satisfied.

As an important member of the College administration team and a senior member of the College Finance Office, the Senior Finance Lead operates within the Catholic educational environment and culture and reports to the Business Manager. A significant relationship also exists with the Principal and College Leadership Team.

Within the accountabilities of the position description, you will enjoy a variety of tasks including: 

  • Keeping correct and timely accounting records
  • Ensuring that the operation of the College Finance Office across the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Financial Reporting functions
  • Conducting period end accounting processes including BAS reporting
  • Processing of Term fees and levies
  • Providing the Business Manager and the College Leadership Team with analysis, advice and executive level support regarding the College's financial operations, resources, budget processes, and planning
  • Assisting with the management of the financial services of the College under the broad direction of the Business Manager
  • Administration of Project Spreadsheets during periods of construction
  • Maintaining the College Asset register
  • Supporting the financial reporting and operating requirements of the College P&F Association, College Bus Operations, and various fundraising events.

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills to achieve a school's financial goals
  • Ability to provide strategic financial advice, identify risks, and spot opportunities
  • Experience in contributing to leadership decisions and improving efficiencies
  • Expertise in coaching and developing staff to enhance systems and practices
  • Skills in identifying process improvements and recommending alternative approaches
  • Tertiary qualification at Diploma level in Finance or related field
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
