Southern Cross Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12 school offering families a co-educational pathway to life-long learning. The College was founded in 1995 following the amalgamation of the Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Moreton Bay Region.
The multi-campus College operates as the principal Catholic College on the Redcliffe peninsula. Southern Cross Catholic College has three campuses located in Scarborough, Kippa Ring and Woody Point accommodating students in Prep to Year 6 and a fourth campus in Scarborough accommodating middle and senior years students from Year 7 to 12. About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with other stakeholders in supporting the faith, spiritual, and pastoral needs of students to promote and develop student well-being, emotional resilience, positive relationships, and a sense of community
- Assisting students to develop knowledge, understanding, and skills that support learning, positive behaviour, and constructive social relationships
- Working with and under the direction of classroom teachers and school leaders to provide further social, emotional or spiritual support for those students who may be at risk of disengagement
- Respond to the personal and spiritual needs of specific students and build student well-being through meaningful activities that promote student engagement such as breakfast clubs, peer support programs, or mentoring/coaching
- Gathering, analysing, and using data and other evidence to support the development of future directions for student-based well-being programs.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with different stakeholders to support the pastoral care of students
- Ability to assist students in developing knowledge, understanding, and skills to support learning, positive behaviour, and constructive social relationships
- Capacity to work closely with classroom teachers and school leaders to provide targeted social, emotional, or spiritual support for at-risk students
- Sensitivity and creativity in responding to the personal and spiritual needs of students and creating and supporting activities to enhance student engagement and well-being
- Proficient in gathering, analysing, and applying data for informed decision-making
- Tertiary qualification Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care
- This certificate or equivalent must include a unit of competency in ‘mental health’ and ‘making appropriate referrals’ e.g. CHCCS422B (Respond holistically and refer appropriately) and CHCMH301C (Work effectively in mental health)
- Must be formally ordained, commissioned, hold recognised religious qualifications and/or be endorsed by a recognised or accepted religious institution.

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
