Summary
The Assistant Principal – Student Wellbeing and Engagement is a member of the College Leadership Team with responsibility for fostering a safe, supportive, and high-expectation learning environment across Year 7 to Year 12. This role leads the College's implementation of various student engagement and wellbeing programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment to the College's Vision, Mission, and Values. The position plays a pivotal role in building capacity among staff, supporting students, and partnering with families to ensure every student can flourish.

About the opportunity
Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) invites applications for this School Senior Leadership position with the capability to support the Principal in:
- building the religious life of the school and a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community;
- growing the engagement, progress, achievement and wellbeing of each student in the school; and
- building a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership in student wellbeing, student behaviour and engagement using data (e.g. Tell Them from Me, Engage Analytics) to provide an informed, proactive and evidence-based response
- Lead the 7–12 College Wellbeing programs, including the coordination of curriculum alignment to same
- Lead the implementation of the College Student Behaviour Support Plan, maximising consistency in application across the College
- Strengthen teacher effectiveness and embed proactive approaches to student engagement and learning
- Behavioural and Classroom Interventions: Lead the team responsible for the design, coordination, and evaluation of behavioural and classroom interventions, ensuring responses are timely, targeted, and effective
- Pastoral Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support the College Pastoral Leaders in their work of student and staff support. Drive consistency in pastoral care and student engagement practices across the College
- Collaborate with key stakeholders regarding student wellbeing and engagement across the College including Support Teachers – Inclusive Education, Guidance Counsellors, relevant BCE supporting education officers, fostering shared responsibility and collaborative problem-solving
- Community and Staff Engagement: Build strong partnerships with parents, caregivers, and staff to support effective understanding and implementation of interventions. Promote transparent and consistent communication that strengthens home-school collaboration.
- Leadership Team Contribution: Work as part of the College Leadership Team to model and embed Catholic values, inspire a culture of care, connection, and excellence, and contribute to whole-of-College leadership.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
- Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
- For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).
