Summary
Provide effective and efficient services across the Science Department, developing and overseeing a variety of tasks while offering advice, training, and support.

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Prepare, set up and pack down practical experiments for Science classes (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and STEM), and provide hands-on support to teachers and students during lessons.
- Maintain clean, safe and well organised laboratories and prep rooms, including chemical storage and equipment stock levels.
- Prepare chemical solutions, following safe chemical handling and waste disposal procedures, and keep relevant WHS documentation (SDSs and risk assessments) up to date.
- Developing and/or administering processes and procedures, and responding to enquires across the Science Department
- Reviewing and developing local systems and providing recommendations for enhancement
- Preparing and maintaining science practicums/experiments consistent with the science curriculum
- Monitoring resources within the Science Department, including the maintenance/storage of equipment, cleaning and disposal and WHS obligations
- Supervising and training support staff as required
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Process and procedure development and administration
- System review and enhancement, identifying areas for improvement
- Proficiency in preparing and maintaining science experiments and practicals that align with the curriculum, ensuring safe and effective learning environments
- Resource management and WHS compliance
- Staff supervision and training
- Certificate in science or related field
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
