Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused Trainer and Assessor to deliver engaging vocational education and training (VET) programs in Cookery and Hospitality to Year 11 and 12 students. This is a rewarding opportunity to inspire young people, bring industry skills into the classroom, and support students in achieving nationally recognised qualifications. We possess high quality training facilities, with professional grade equipment and an operational restaurant which allows students to learn and complete assessment in a realistic hospitality environment.

  • Salary: Level 5 School Officer $39.44 - 41.35/hr + super (School Salary Scale)

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Plan and deliver high quality training to senior school students.
  • Conduct competency-based assessments and maintain accurate, compliant records.
  • Create a positive, practical, hands-on learning environment that fosters confidence and skill development.
  • Support diverse learners and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff, VET coordinator and industry partners to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Maintain currency in industry skills and training/assessment practices.
  • Plan and supervise school functions (as required), and observe students completing designated shifts.
  • Adhere to Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2025 and school policies and practices.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
  • SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery (or equivalent).
  • SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality (or equivalent).
  • Recent industry experience in Cookery and Hospitality an Commercial cookery qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Recent experience as a Trainer and Assessor delivering Cookery and/or Hospitality qualifications in a school environment.
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
  • A commitment to working with young people and supporting positive educational outcomes.
  • A positive attitude, ability to adapt and a strong work ethic.
  • The ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Sound administration and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and focused.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
