Summary
As Accountant, you will provide specialist accounting expertise that supports accurate financial reporting, effective governance and strong compliance across Brisbane Catholic Education. Working within Group Financial Accounting Services, you will manage complex accounting activities, contribute to statutory and regulatory reporting, and provide trusted technical advice to a diverse range of stakeholders. You will play an important role in maintaining audit readiness, strengthening financial controls and promoting consistent accounting practices across the organisation. This is an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge while contributing to improvements in financial systems, processes and reporting.

About the opportunity
In this position you will:
- Deliver complex financial accounting, reporting and reconciliation activities, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant outcomes
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements, reconciliations and supporting financial documentation
- Provide specialist advice on Australian Accounting Standards, taxation obligations, regulatory requirements and complex transactions
- Coordinate audit and assurance activities, including preparing documentation, analysing information and implementing improvement actions
- Analyse financial information, trends and risks to provide meaningful insights and support informed decision-making
- Investigate and resolve complex accounting, system and process issues to improve operational effectiveness
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures and controls that strengthen governance and consistent practice
- Partner with schools, business areas, auditors, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to deliver practical financial solutions
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation requirements and financial controls
- The ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate clear, practical advice
- Experience identifying and implementing improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting practices
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse business areas
- Analytical mindset, using data and information to identify areas for improving operational practices
- Demonstrates a proactive mindset, consistently seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
- Degree qualifications in accounting, commerce, finance or a related discipline, along with a CAANZ or CPA qualification or substantial progress towards completion
- Demonstrated experience across financial accounting, reporting, audit and compliance
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement
- A current Queensland Driver Licence
