Are you an experienced Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or Transactional Finance professional looking to take the next step in your career?

Brisbane Catholic Education is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Accounting Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading day-to-day financial operations, improving processes and supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial services.

This role sits within a large and complex organisation supporting more than 80,000 students across Queensland and offers exposure to enterprise financial systems, financial accounting and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting Services, you will play a key role in supporting the effective operation of BCE's Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions while assisting with a range of financial accounting activities.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to manage workflows, monitor workloads, support process improvements and help ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.

  • Salary: $106,703 - $118,555 plus super

About the opportunity

 

In this position you will:

  • Support and oversee day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations
  • Assist with workflow management and prioritisation of transactional finance activities
  • Monitor service delivery timeframes and contribute to performance outcomes
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and accounting processes
  • Support financial controls and compliance activities
  • Contribute to process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
  • Provide support and training to users of financial systems
  • Assist with preparation of audit workpapers and supporting documentation
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders across BCE

About you

We are looking for someone who brings strong experience in transactional finance environments and enjoys improving the way work gets done.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience leading or coordinating Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable functions
  • Strong understanding of high-volume transaction processing environments
  • Experience managing competing priorities, workflows and service delivery deadlines
  • A focus on accuracy, customer service and continuous improvement
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Relevant accounting, finance or business qualifications, completed or in progress

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement.

This role would suit a Senior Accounts Payable Officer, Senior Accounts Receivable Officer, Transactional Finance Team Leader or Assistant Accountant seeking broader exposure to financial accounting.
