About our team
The Financial Accounting team specialises in managing all aspects of financial and capital accounting, ensuring compliance with legislative and Archdiocesan requirements. We oversee a wide range of functions, including the preparation of the financial statements and the external statutory audit, supplier setup and management, and corporate procurement card administration. With a strong focus on maintaining robust internal controls and financial stewardship, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service and support to meet all financial needs.
Summary
As the Support Officer – Finance Payables, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within our organisation. You will be responsible for interpreting financial data, processing payments, resolving discrepancies, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will help maintain accurate records, ensure timely payments to suppliers and schools, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our finance function.

- Salary: $80,318 - $90,762 plus super

About the opportunity
In this position you will:
- Interpret financial data and documentation to ensure accurate processing and reconciliation of BCE’s liabilities to suppliers, schools, and other creditors
- Resolve discrepancies and payment issues by liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Undertake activities supporting professional bookkeeping, including purchase order control, invoice matching and processing, petty cash control and disbursement, employee expense reimbursements, and EFT payments
- Prioritise workload and tasks, investigate and resolve issues, and initiate rectification in a timely manner
- Draft responses to enquiries and contribute to continuous improvement practices and processes
- Provide information regarding procedures, guidelines, and legislation to customers and stakeholders, including requirements of the ATO for GST and withholding tax
- Support BCE staff in the use of financial software for ordering and invoice processing
- Liaise with stakeholders to address needs in the financial accounts system
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Having a strong attention to detail.
- Proactive approach to adherence to policies and procedures
- Experience in a similar position and possess strong problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in a similar accounts payable position (highly regarded)
- Ability to prioritise workload and tasks, undertaking initial investigations, and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Ability to prioritise tasks and resolve issues independently
- Strong communication skills to respond to enquiries.
- Working closely with a senior staff to provide administrative assistance
- There are not mandatory qualifications however previous experience in a similar accounts payable position would be highly regarded
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement.
