About our team 
The Formation and Engagement Services oversees BCE’s core strategic priority to deepen the understanding of and engagement with the Catholic Tradition, Scripture, and Theology among employees, students, and families through professional development, formation and experiential opportunities, alongside the development of contemporary resources that embed the Catholic Identity Framework within BCE schools and offices. This service area is comprised of three portfolios: Religious Education and Student Formation; Leadership and Staff Formation; and Engagement and Family Formation. This service area of BCE articulates a contemporary Catholic Christian worldview, to animate the centrality of Jesus and responsibility to enact Catholic Social Teachings. This includes creation and oversight of experiential learning opportunities, including pilgrimages; In- and On-Country Encounters; and Religious Education Conferences. 

Summary

 

Leverage your expertise in strategy and collaboration across Brisbane Catholic Education, driving enhancements in operational efficiency.   We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Religious Education Leader to join our team. This role is pivotal in deepening the knowledge of the Catholic Tradition, Scripture, and Theology among teachers and students. The successful candidate will lead engaging professional development and formation opportunities, fostering a greater understanding of the Catholic Tradition and its role in Catholic education.

  • Location: BCE Office - Woolloongabba 
  • Work hours: Full-time | Flexible working arrangements available
  • Salary: $150,828 - $167,580 + super 
  • Status: permanent (continuing) 

About the opportunity

 

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Lead and deliver strategic objectives affecting the organisational direction to enhance Religious Education, Catholic Perspectives across the Curriculum, and student formation. This includes designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, practices, and professional learning programs.
  • Collaborate on the development of recontextualised Religious Education unit samples and associated contemporary resources.
  • Facilitate the implementation and evaluation of professional learning regarding the Archdiocese of Brisbane Religious Education Curriculum P-12.
  • Manage and build experiential opportunities for student formation through retreats and external opportunities. Develop resources to enhance the Catholic Identity of schools.
  • Consult, collaborate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders internally and externally to share professional knowledge, build capability, and collaborate on projects.
  • Lead the curation and update of Spire and external sites as key communication sources for all staff.
  • Manage high performing teams across function areas to achieve team goals.

 

About you

 

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Undertaking the development and review of strategic processes toenhance the effectiveness of Catholic education initiatives. 
  • Being responsible for the implementation and delivery of strategic objectives and attainment. 
  • Identifying function area needs for now and the future. 
  • Stakeholder engagement across an organisation at a Senior level. 
  • Managing teams across different function areas. 
  • Possession of Masters level qualifications in Religious Education, Theology, leadership, spirituality, or a similar relevant field.
  • A committed practising Catholic with a deep understanding of the purpose and mission of the Catholic Church and Catholic schools.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Full registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) or Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children.
