Summary
As Lead – Financial Accounting and Compliance, you will provide strategic leadership across financial accounting, taxation, reporting, compliance, assurance and treasury functions within Brisbane Catholic Education. You will be a trusted technical adviser, supporting sound decision-making and strengthening financial governance across schools and office teams. This influential role will oversee critical reporting, audit and regulatory requirements while improving the frameworks, controls and systems that support accurate and compliant financial management. You will also lead a capable team, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and drive sustainable improvements across Financial Accounting Services.

About the opportunity
In this position you will:
- Lead enterprise-wide financial accounting, taxation, reporting, compliance, assurance and treasury activities
- Provide authoritative advice on accounting standards, taxation, grants, acquittals, regulatory obligations and financial risk
- Oversee financial statement integrity, general ledger governance, period-end and year-end processes, and compliance reporting
- Strengthen treasury governance through effective liquidity, loan facility, cash reserve and banking oversight
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, controls and assurance practices that support consistent and audit-ready financial management
- Coordinate audit, assurance and regulatory engagements, ensuring findings and agreed actions are addressed promptly
- Drive process redesign, automation and systems improvements that enhance reporting integrity, efficiency and control effectiveness
- Lead, coach and develop your team while building productive relationships across schools, BCE teams and external partners
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Extensive leadership experience across finance transformation, process redesign, systems enhancement and service improvement.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, taxation, compliance, assurance and treasury practices.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into practical advice and sustainable solutions.
- Experience developing robust policies, controls and governance frameworks within a complex operating environment.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach others, build capability and establish clear expectations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to delivering accurate, responsive and service-focused financial outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
- Membership of CA, CPA or an equivalent professional accounting body, or demonstrated progress towards membership.

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement
