About our team 
The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team at BCE is dedicated to fostering and maintaining safe and healthy environments for employees, students, and visitors across schools and office locations. They offer expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and wellbeing to key internal stakeholders, managing projects to ensure compliance and cultivate a positive workplace culture. The team collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote positive behavioural change throughout BCE, and they support rehabilitation and return-to-work initiatives.

Summary

We are seeking a strategic and proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead to champion a safe and respectful environment across schools and offices. This role is central to advancing system-wide initiatives that prevent and manage occupational violence and aggression (OVA), while fostering a culture of safety, dignity, and wellbeing. You will lead the development and implementation of frameworks, policies, and partnerships that embed OVA prevention and response at every level of the organisation. Working closely with leaders, staff, and external experts, you will influence cultural change and set the standard for proactive risk management.

  • Salary: $155,351- $172,606 + super 
  • Status: Fixed term | 8 months | August 2025 to April 2026

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Leading and delivering strategic objectives affecting the organisational direction and goals.  
  • Provide expert advice to enhance frameworks and policies that promote safety and proactive intervention.
  • Managing high performing teams across function areas to achieve team goals. 
  • Provide specialist advice and technical leadership on emerging risks while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of safety.
  • Conduct advanced analysis to inform data-driven decisions and reporting.
  • Develop, review, and align processes and resources to organisational priorities to effectively address occupational violence and aggression.
  • Consult, collaborate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. 

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Undertaking the development and review of strategic processes. 
  • Being responsible for the implementation and delivery of strategic objectives and attainment. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proven experience in addressing occupational violence and aggression (OVA), including designing and implementing prevention strategies, managing incidents, and driving cultural change.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and leadership levels.
  • Managing teams across different function areas. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or relevant experience (highly regarded).

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment .
  • Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children.
