Key Responsibilities
• Drive the strategic vision for safeguarding across the BCE system
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary team focused on safeguarding and student protection
• Oversee complex risk assessments, case reviews and investigations
• Lead audit and assurance processes, and synthesise findings into systemic improvements
• Provide expert advice, clear frameworks, training and reporting
• Collaborate with stakeholders — including students and adults at risk — to shape safe, inclusive environments
• Promote a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- An inspirational leader who creates a positive team environment where the team flourish and are supported to be their best.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in child protection, law, social work or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in safeguarding or student protection within Queensland education, community or government sector
- Strong understanding of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, National Catholic Safeguarding Standards, and Queensland legislation.
- High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills, leading change in a large complex organisation.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to navigate complex, sensitive matters.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children.
- Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement.
