About our team 
The School Improvement Team leads and manages BCE’s school improvement strategy. Providing support to BCE schools in improving their overall performance, student wellbeing, and learning outcomes. We work in partnership with school leaders to provide support, guidance, and feedback on school improvement initiatives. Key tasks include leading the identification, monitoring, and review process for continuous improvement, applying the SIT framework, collaborating across BCE functions, communicating system-wide learnings, assisting principals in embedding SIT recommendations, ensuring the achievement of system KPIs, and providing professional learning for school and system leaders. 

Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to join our School Improvement Team as a Primary Principal Secondee - Panel Chair. This pivotal role is responsible for leading systemic school review processes across a designated group of schools, driving continuous improvement and sustainability through expert analysis, collaboration, and strategic guidance.

As Chair of school review panels, you will author detailed reports with actionable recommendations and provide high-level support to Senior Leaders and Principals. Your insights will shape the future of our schools, ensuring excellence in education through data-driven decision-making.

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage external school review processes for a group of schools, ensuring alignment with strategic improvement goals and fostering a culture of excellence across the system.
  • Chair review panels and oversee consultation, analysis, and reporting using the School Improvement Tool (SIT), ensuring that findings are evidence-based and clearly communicated to stakeholders.
  • Produce comprehensive reports that include key findings and actionable recommendations tailored to each school’s context, supporting Principals and Senior Leaders in their improvement journey.
  • Support panel members by ensuring they are well-informed and equipped with relevant documentation and data, enabling effective participation and collaboration throughout the review process.
  • Integrate school performance data with review outcomes to provide deep, systemic insights that inform strategic planning and drive meaningful change.
  • Conduct quality assurance visits for priority schools to monitor progress, validate implementation of recommendations, and ensure alignment with agreed timelines and school action plans.
  • Collaborate with the School Improvement Team to identify trends, develop systemic insights, and contribute to monthly executive summaries for the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Contribute to the development and operational effectiveness of the School Improvement Team by sharing expertise, refining processes, and supporting team capability building.


 

 

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Proven leadership experience in school improvement and educational strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and facilitate collaborative review processes.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and educational excellence.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with Principals, Senior Leaders, and system stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner in school improvement efforts.
  • Tertiary qualifications in education with post graduate degree qualifications in leadership preferred.
  • A demonstrated track record of recent achievement as a current principal of a BCE primary, secondary or P-12 BCE school.

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Full registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
