Summary

 
Join our team as a Senior Officer-Collections and make a significant impact by providing end-to-end collections and debtor management support across BCE to optimise collections, reduce aged debt, and strengthen payment outcomes. This is a hands-on role managing a portfolio of complex and escalated accounts, handling disputes, negotiating repayment arrangements, supporting schools through coaching and guidance, and contributing to continuous improvement to evolve the collections’ function.

About the opportunity

 

In this position you will: 

  • Deliver accurate, timely debtor reporting to support performance monitoring and collection strategies
  • Engage with families to resolve outstanding fees, negotiate sustainable arrangements and maintain positive relationships
  • Support families in financial hardship by validating documentation and facilitating fee assistance
  • Advise schools and stakeholders on debtor management, risk assessment and appropriate escalation pathways
  • Improve collections processes by contributing to system controls, reporting requirements and procedural documentation
  • Investigate complex debtor issues, analyse root causes and implement practical resolutions
  • Maintain and embed procedures, templates and guidelines that drive consistency and enhance customer experience
  • Resolve escalated matters using sound judgement, ensuring compassionate, compliant outcomes and accurate records

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:  

  • Demonstrated expertise in debtor management, including analysing account risk, interpreting financial information and applying sound judgement in complex situations
  • Proven ability to engage confidently and compassionately with families, negotiating sustainable solutions while upholding policy and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑influencing skills
  • Experience improving processes, documentation and systems to enhance consistency, efficiency and customer experience
  • High level of organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and deliver timely outcomes
  • Certificate level/Diploma qualifications in commence, accounting, finance or legal studies is well regarded but not essential
  • Membership in the Australian Institutes of Credit Management (AICM) or similar qualifications is highly regarded
 
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 
  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement
