About our team 
The Student Diversity and Wellbeing team develops policy, strategy, and innovation in Inclusive Education and Student Wellbeing services, providing consultancy, advice, and practical strategies to support schools. Their goal is to ensure all students can access and participate in learning, fostering a sense of belonging and engagement in the school community to maximise learning and wellbeing. 

Summary

Exciting opportunity to provide student-focused speech pathology services that align with Brisbane Catholic Education's values, learning framework, and teaching policies! In this role, you will support schools in meeting the diverse learning needs of students with communication difficulties. Collaborating with teachers, you will help them assist these students and ensure they can access the curriculum and engage socially.

  • Work hours: 38.00 hours per week 
  • Salary: $81,620 - $111,610 plus super (Speech Pathologist Salary Scale)
  • Status: Fulltime | Continuing | Flexible working arrangements available

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Contributing to the evaluation of speech pathology resource needs and the prioritisation of speech pathology services within the school community to optimise quality-service outcomes 
  • Collaborating with relevant school, BCEO and external personnel to evaluate student communication and learning needs through the use of standardised and non-standardised assessment measures 
  • Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to facilitate the prioritisation of communication and learning goals 
  • Implementing evidence-based, data-informed intervention approaches for identified students, to enhance student communication, learning, and wellbeing outcomes, and provide advice and reports to parents and educators 
  • Collaborate and contribute to the professional development of staff and provide opportunities for parent education.
  • Maintain standards of practice and competencies consistent with Speech Pathology Australia and BCE policies and guidelines.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including: 

  • Experience with standardised and non-standardised assessment tools to evaluate student communication and learning needs 
  • Proven ability to design and implement data-informed, evidence-based interventions that improve student outcomes 
  • Experience working alongside teachers to set and prioritise communication and learning goals 
  • Strong skills in providing clear, actionable reports and feedback to parents and educators on student progress 
  • Experience in leading or contributing to staff training and providing educational opportunities for parents on speech pathology topics 
  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology (minimum Bachelor’s degree) plus eligibility for Certified Practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia 
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic. 

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
