Summary

The School Finance Support Team acts as trusted finance business partners, providing advice and support to school leadership and finance staff across the BCE network. The team supports school leaders in areas such as financial performance monitoring, budgeting, project evaluations, and financial acquittals while also delivering practical, on-the-ground process guidance and support to school finance officers and business managers.

The team is currently evolving with a continued shift towards providing strategic financial support and delivering process improvements to reduce administrative burden, both of which enable schools to improve long-term sustainability and focus on achieving their educational objectives.

About the opportunity

In this position you will:

• Provide trusted financial advice and business partnering support to principals and school leadership teams on financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement, translating insights into practical recommendations and quality reporting for stakeholders
• Support initiatives that improve financial processes, systems, controls, and reporting, driving greater efficiency, consistency, compliance, and service delivery across schools
• Monitor and report on financial performance across the school network, providing insights and high-level analysis to BCE corporate leadership to support organisational planning, decision-making, and financial sustainability
• Build strong collaborative relationships with schools and corporate teams to enhance financial capability, performance, and long-term sustainability
• Provide targeted support to schools in areas of financial administration and compliance where additional guidance is required, ensuring continuity of operations while building local capability and confidence

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

• Solid experience in accounting, financial analysis, and advisory roles, ideally within a complex or multi-site environment
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear, practical advice for non-finance stakeholders
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders to influence outcomes and support sound financial decisions through the preparation of reports and recommendations
• Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing process improvements that deliver efficiencies, strengthen controls, and improve stakeholder outcomes
• Systems capability, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP and reporting tools such as Dynamics 365 and Power BI to analyse, report, and drive business insights
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional membership with CA/CPA or equivalent is mandatory
