About our team 
The Office Services team is responsible for the provision of a suite of services including venues, building security, travel management, fleet, telephony and mobile technology systems, records management, reception, receipt and despatch and BCE insurance provision. 
 

Summary

We’re looking for a proactive and service‑focused Venue Support Officer to help ensure our meeting and learning spaces operate smoothly each day. In this role, you’ll create a welcoming experience for staff and visitors, coordinate room bookings and event setups, and support the delivery of professional learning activities. You’ll play a key part in maintaining well‑organised, safe, and high‑quality venue environments that enable teams to do their best work.

  • Location: O'Shea Centre, Wilston
  • Work Hours: 30 per week
  • Status: Parttime Continuing | Commencing February
  • Salary: $35 - $39 per hour plus super

About the opportunity

In this position you will:

  • Coordinate day‑to‑day venue operations to ensure rooms, facilities, and resources are prepared and functioning for meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Provide warm, timely, and professional customer service to staff, facilitators, visitors, and attendees.
  • Manage venue bookings, online calendars, and enquiries to support smooth scheduling and communication.
  • Work closely with facilitators to confirm requirements and support all aspects of room setup, including audio‑visual and equipment needs.
  • Oversee catering logistics, including ordering, receiving, and organising meal‑break setups and pack‑downs.
  • Support venue maintenance by triaging issues, lodging requests, and assisting with contractor coordination.
  • Provide a range of administrative support such as reception relief, preparing documents, and processing purchase orders and invoices.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, compliant venue environment, supporting WHS processes, visitor management, and emergency procedures.

About you

 

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Initiative and problem‑solving ability, particularly in fast‑paced or changing situations.
  • Being adaptable, flexible, proactive, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.  
  • Strong customer‑service and hospitality skills, with the ability to create a warm and professional experience for staff, visitors, and event facilitators.
  • Working collaboratively with different stakeholders at different levels.  
  • Following policy and procedures to resolve minor challenges and issues.  
  • Confidence in supporting venue operations, including room setup, audio‑visual equipment, and general event requirements.
  • Experience in similar customer‑service, hospitality, venue, or administrative roles (highly regarded)  

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:  

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment  
  • Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children  
  • Current First Aid and CPR
