About our team
The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team at BCE is dedicated to fostering and maintaining safe and healthy environments for employees, students, and visitors across schools and office locations. They offer expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and wellbeing to key internal stakeholders, managing projects to ensure compliance and cultivate a positive workplace culture. The team collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote positive behavioural change throughout BCE, and they support rehabilitation and return-to-work initiatives.
Summary
Join Brisbane Catholic Education as a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Partner and play a key role in creating safe, healthy and supportive workplaces across our schools and office environments. Working closely with Principals, school leaders and corporate stakeholders, you will provide expert advice on work health and safety matters, support compliance and risk management activities, and help drive a positive safety culture. This is an opportunity to influence organisational outcomes, build capability across diverse stakeholders and contribute to initiatives that improve the wellbeing of employees and students across the BCE community.

- Status: Fixed Term | Parttime (3 days a week) | September 2026 – December 2027
- Salary: $122,215 - $135,119 pro rata plus super

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Partner with Principals, leaders and stakeholders to provide expert health, safety and wellbeing advice and support.
- Lead and support risk management, incident response, investigations, assurance and compliance activities.
- Analyse safety performance data to identify trends, opportunities and practical improvements.
- Develop resources, tools, training and solutions that strengthen local WHS capability.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of health, safety and wellbeing systems, policies and practices.
- Collaborate with schools, office teams and external stakeholders to achieve organisational safety priorities.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, compliance and positive safety outcomes across BCE.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Demonstrated experience providing specialist advice in work health and safety within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to investigate issues, analyse data and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted partnerships across diverse groups.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and drive positive safety outcomes.
- Experience delivering training, guidance and practical resources that build capability and embed a proactive safety culture.
- Tertiary qualifications in health and safety, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children
- Qld Driver’s licence
