About our team 
The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team at BCE is dedicated to fostering and maintaining safe and healthy environments for employees, students, and visitors across schools and office locations. They offer expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and wellbeing to key internal stakeholders, managing projects to ensure compliance and cultivate a positive workplace culture. The team collaborates with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote positive behavioural change throughout BCE, and they support rehabilitation and return-to-work initiatives.

Summary

 

Lead and shape a system-wide approach to health, safety and wellbeing in a senior, strategic role with real organisational impact. As the Health and Safety Strategy & Systems Lead, you’ll drive enterprise-wide HSW Plan, influence executive decision-making, and deliver practical systems and frameworks that embed safety across a complex, multi-site organisation. This is a key leadership role focused on strengthening governance, capability and culture to ensure consistent, sustainable safety outcomes.

  • Salary: $155,351 - $172,606 plus super

About the opportunity

 

In this position you will:  

  •  Lead and deliver an enterprise health, safety and wellbeing plan aligned to organisational priorities, emerging risk and legislative requirements
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders on risk, governance, systems performance and emerging trends
  • Design, implement and continuously improve the enterprise-wide safety Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System.   
  • Strengthen governance and risk management, including oversight of HSW assurance activities and enterprise risk profiling
  • Lead strategic initiatives and complex projects with clear outcomes, timelines and stakeholder alignment
  • Build organisational capability through learning, tools and engagement that embed safety leadership
  • Drive data-led decision making through reporting, analysis and performance insights across safety and wellbeing
  • Harness emerging technologies (including AI) to innovate how we identify and predict risk, generate actionable insights, and simplify HSW workflows and reporting across the system

About you

 

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:    

  • Proven experience leading health, safety and wellbeing strategy at an enterprise level
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate complex risk into clear, actionable insights
  • Experience designing and embedding systems, frameworks and governance in complex environments
  • Highly developed project and program leadership capability, including delivery of large-scale initiatives
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using insights to inform strategy and improve outcomes
  • Strong relationship builder, able to collaborate across functions and drive system-wide change
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, health, safety, environmental science or a related field

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:  

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment  
  • Positive Notice Blue Card for working with children
