The Safeguarding Team at BCE champions a culture of protection for students and adults by embedding safeguarding practices into all operations and policies in line with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards. By collaborating with schools, parents, and students, they establish frameworks, guidelines, and standards that ensure BCE schools remain a safe environment for all.
Summary
Showcase your ability as the Senior Advisor Safeguarding, driving organisational change through process improvements. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures that are critical to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and adults. You will play a key part in supporting a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with national standards and legal requirements, while influencing positive change across the organisation.

- Salary: $137,560 - $152,836 plus super

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Lead the development, review, and enhancement of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure alignment with National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and all relevant legal requirements. Provide expert advice and consultancy on safeguarding practices to support managerial decision-making.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in current safeguarding practices, ensuring policies reflect the latest best practice and regulatory changes, while also tracking the safeguarding response plan and overseeing the auditing process to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop clear, user-friendly support materials and resources to accompany new and updated policies.
- Design and deliver targeted training sessions for staff and leadership, embedding safeguarding principles and compliance across the organisation.
- Analysing data to positively challenge and negotiate perspectives on complex and strategic issues to deliver outcomes and make recommendations on complex and strategic safeguarding issues.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and leadership teams to define project scope, deliverables, timelines, and milestones.
- Identify and monitor project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, technical reports, and committee papers, and present concise progress reports to managers and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to share knowledge, provide updates, address concerns, and secure engagement in safeguarding initiatives.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Leading a variety of projects to meet operational outcomes.
- Analytical in your approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and drafting policy, procedures, and user-friendly resources for diverse audiences.
- Written specialised reports and committee papers on projects you have led.
- Worked with multiple stakeholders and leadership teams in your area of specialty.
- Experience in safeguarding and compliance, ideally within education or similar sectors focused on protecting vulnerable persons
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or significant experience in a similar role.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
- Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children.
