About our team
The Safeguarding Team at BCE champions a culture of protection for students and adults by embedding safeguarding practices into all operations and policies in line with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards. By collaborating with schools, parents, and students, they establish frameworks, guidelines, and standards that ensure BCE schools remain a safe environment for all.
Summary
The Senior Advisor – Safeguarding provides specialist expertise to strengthen safeguarding culture and practice across Brisbane Catholic Education. This role leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safeguarding policies, guidance and capability initiatives, ensuring alignment with legislative, regulatory and best‑practice standards. Working collaboratively with schools, leaders and internal stakeholders, the role translates safeguarding requirements into practical systems, resources and assurance processes that support consistent, compliant and high‑quality practice across the organisation.

- Salary: $137,560 - $152,836 plus super

About the opportunity
In this position you will:
- Provide specialist safeguarding advice to leaders, schools and teams, including guidance on obligations, risk management and implementation
- Lead the development, review and continuous improvement of safeguarding policies, procedures and practice guidance
- Translate legislative, regulatory and policy requirements into practical tools, resources and day‑to‑day guidance
- Develop, deliver and evaluate safeguarding capability initiatives, including professional learning and training
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to embed consistent safeguarding practice
- Lead quality assurance, compliance checking and evidence review to monitor implementation and drive improvement
- Support audit, review and regulatory readiness through assurance processes, reporting and action tracking
- Monitor safeguarding trends, emerging risks and regulatory changes, providing advice to strengthen culture and practice
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, child protection, legal, compliance or regulatory environments
- Strong ability to interpret legislation and standards and translate them into practical guidance
- Experience developing and embedding policies, frameworks and practice improvement initiatives
- Capability to deliver training and professional learning to build organisational capability
- Well‑developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across complex environments
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, human services, psychology, behavioural science or a related discipline

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
