About our team
The Employee Relations & Investigations Team provides strategic leadership and high-level advice on employment law, enterprise agreements, and workplace relations to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and industry best practices. The team manages complex workplace investigations, performance management, and dispute resolution, while also developing strategies for enterprise bargaining negotiations. Collaborating with stakeholders, the team supports organisational change processes and enhances employee engagement, ensuring alignment with Brisbane Catholic Education's culture and business priorities.
Summary
Are you an experienced investigator ready to lead complex, high-impact cases in a dynamic educational environment? As Lead Investigator, you will manage and oversee investigations into misconduct, professional standards, and student protection matters. You’ll supervise a dedicated team, set best-practice standards, and provide expert advice and training to build investigative capability across the organization. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on responsibility, collaboration, and making a meaningful difference in the safety and integrity of our community.

About the opportunity
In this position you will:
- Lead and manage the Investigations Unit, overseeing a caseload of internal and external investigations into complex misconduct, professional standards, and student protection matters
- Supervise and allocate cases within the team, including mentoring and supporting the Senior Investigator
- Develop, implement, and uphold robust investigation standards to ensure high-quality, ethical, and impartial investigative practices
- Provide expert advice and deliver training and resources to build capability in best practice investigation methodologies for BCE stakeholders
- Coordinate and manage external investigators and legal counsel for independent investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and legislation
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including principals, senior leaders, statutory agencies, and legal entities, to communicate findings and outcomes
- Maintain transparent, confidential records of all investigative activities, correspondence, and outcomes within BCE’s records management system
- Contribute to the development and implementation of frameworks, policies, and procedures to improve systemic student protection strategies and manage allegations of misconduct
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Undertaking the development and review of strategic processes
- Being responsible for the implementation and delivery of strategic objectives and attainment
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations and assessments, including interviewing skills for sensitive issues (including interviewing children)
- Stakeholder engagement across an organisation at a Senior level
- Ability to lead and supervise team capability development and day-to-day operations
- Successful completion of a course in Interviewing Children and Recording Evidence (ICARE) or equivalent
- Degree-level qualifications in a relevant field and/or minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated equivalent industry or specialised professional experience
