About our team 
The Employee Relations & Investigations Team provides strategic leadership and high-level advice on employment law, enterprise agreements, and workplace relations to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and industry best practices. The team manages complex workplace investigations, performance management, and dispute resolution, while also developing strategies for enterprise bargaining negotiations. Collaborating with stakeholders, the team supports organisational change processes and enhances employee engagement, ensuring alignment with Brisbane Catholic Education's culture and business priorities. 

Summary

 

The Senior Advisor – Intake and Investigations supports safe and respectful school environments by managing the early assessment and triage of staff conduct concerns. Working closely with principals and school leaders, this role provides trusted advice and guidance on sensitive and complex matters. You will play a key role in strengthening consistent, best‑practice approaches to employee conduct across Brisbane Catholic Education.

  • Status: Fixed Term | April 2026 – April 2028
  • Salary: $137,560 -$152,836 plus super

About the opportunity

 

In this position you will:   

  • Act as the first point of contact for staff conduct concerns, assessing matters early and helping ensure appropriate and timely responses
  • Partner closely with principals and school leaders, providing clear, practical advice on managing sensitive employee conduct matters
  • Support and lead workplace investigations, including gathering information, conducting interviews and contributing to fair and robust outcomes
  • Coordinate complex or sensitive investigations with external investigators or legal advisors when required
  • Review and prepare well‑reasoned assessments and documentation to support informed decision‑making
  • Analyse trends and information to identify risks and contribute to improved practices across the organisation
  • Build strong working relationships across schools and corporate teams to support consistent and best‑practice approaches
  • Contribute to capability building by sharing expertise and supporting leaders to manage issues with confidence  

About you

 

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Demonstrated experience providing advice on complex employee conduct or investigation matters
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, interpret information and make sound recommendations
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with leaders and stakeholders in sensitive environments
  • High‑level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed assessments and reports
  • Experience coordinating investigations or working with external investigators or legal advisors (highly regarded)
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or relevant experience (highly regarded)

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children
