About our team 
The Employee Relations & Investigations Team provides strategic leadership and high-level advice on employment law, enterprise agreements, and workplace relations to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and industry best practices. The team manages complex workplace investigations, performance management, and dispute resolution, while also developing strategies for enterprise bargaining negotiations. Collaborating with stakeholders, the team supports organisational change processes and enhances employee engagement, ensuring alignment with Brisbane Catholic Education's culture and business priorities. 

Summary

As the Senior Advisor – Employee Relations, you will be a trusted expert and strategic partner, providing high-level advice and support on complex employee relations and professional standards matters. You’ll work closely with senior managers, school leaders, and principals to resolve issues, build capability, and drive positive outcomes across Brisbane Catholic Education.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on analysing complex situations, developing effective solutions, and building strong relationships to support organisational goals.

  • Salary: $137,561.00 - $152,836.25 plus super

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for: 

  • Advise senior managers, school leaders, and principals on a wide range of employee relations and professional standards matters to achieve resolution and build capacity
  • Create and maintain credible relationships with key stakeholders to identify and analyse complex matters, providing recommendations to inform BCE’s position and support decision-making
  • Offer subject matter expertise in areas such as school structures and operations, bullying, harassment, discrimination, employment case law, and workplace investigations
  • Develop strategies and provide sound advice to improve organisational performance, including workplace investigations and managing staff inappropriate behaviour matters
  • Prepare specialised and technical reports, committee papers, and undertake research, analysis, and interpretation of legislation and case law
  • Establish, build, and maintain internal and external relationships to share professional knowledge and deliver business outcomes
  • Negotiate and liaise with employee organisations and representatives to resolve issues and mitigate risks
  • Build capability within and across business areas by developing resources and providing professional training to enhance leadership and management capability in employee relations and professional standards

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Leading a variety of projects to meet operational outcomes
  • Analytical in your approach to problem solving
  • Conducted high level reviews and investigations linked to organisational performance
  • Ability to provide subject matter expertise and transfer knowledge within the team
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship-building skills 
  • Written specialised reports and committee papers on projects you have led
  • Worked with multiple stakeholders and leadership teams in your area of specialty
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field (industrial relations, employment law, human resources) and/or previous experience in a similar position (highly regarded but not essential)

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment 
  • Positive Notice Blue Card for working with Children. 
  • Current/valid Queensland Driver’s Licence
